Caddie vs Granola

Granola and Caddie both record meetings on your computer with no bot joining the call. Granola is a dedicated meeting notepad that runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. Caddie is a Mac app where meeting notes are one part of your day: every promise from the call becomes a task, next to your notes, calendar, booking links and dictation. Pick Granola if meetings are all you need and you use Windows or Android. Pick Caddie if you want the follow-ups done, not just written down.

Updated 31 October 2026. Facts about Granola come from its own website (sources at the end); Caddie is free while in beta.

Which should you choose?

Choose Granola if

  • You use Windows or Android, or record meetings on your phone.
  • Meetings are the only thing you want an app for.
  • Your team needs CRM sync (HubSpot, Attio, Affinity, Salesforce).

Choose Caddie if

  • You want each promise from a call to land on your day as a task, without copying it over.
  • You'd rather have notes, tasks, calendar, booking links and dictation in one app than five.
  • You want to read old meeting notes without paying: Caddie doesn't hide notes after 30 days.
  • You want agents that act on what was said, on your own Claude Code or Codex.

Does Granola turn meeting notes into tasks?

Granola lists action items inside each meeting's notes. It doesn't have a task list or a calendar, so you copy them into your to-do app yourself. Caddie writes the same notes, then puts every promise ("I'll send the pricing sheet") on your day as a task with a time, and can open a Linear issue for a teammate while you're still on the call.

Do both record without a bot?

Yes. Both record your Mac's audio, so nobody sees a bot join. Caddie asks "Record this call?" when a meeting starts, shows a live transcript in the notch, and has the notes ready a few seconds after you hang up. Caddie's recording needs macOS 26.

What about meetings older than 30 days?

On Granola's free Basic plan only the last 30 days of notes are visible; older ones need Business. Caddie doesn't hide older notes, and files calls to folders (customer calls, hiring, team syncs) on its own.

Which is better for dictation?

Granola added Voice Typing on the Mac in beta. Caddie's dictation is a core feature: hold fn in any app, and it learns the names and jargon in your notes and calendar. In Caddie's own test of six Mac dictation setups, Caddie made the fewest mistakes.

How much do Caddie and Granola cost?

Granola's Business plan is $14 per user a month, billed monthly, and its free Basic plan shows the last 30 days of notes. Caddie is free while in beta, then $10 a month, and that covers notes, tasks, calendar, booking links, meetings, dictation and agents.

Questions people ask

Is Caddie a good Granola alternative?

Yes, if you're on a Mac. Caddie records meetings without a bot like Granola does, and adds what happens after the call: tasks on your calendar, notes, booking links and dictation. If you need Windows or Android, Granola covers them and Caddie doesn't yet.

Is there a Granola alternative with no 30-day note limit?

Caddie doesn't hide meeting notes after 30 days, and it's free while in beta.

Does Caddie work on Windows?

Not as an app. Notes, tasks and calendar work in any browser at usecaddie.app/app; meetings, dictation and agents need the Mac app.

Can I use Caddie and Granola together?

Yes, but you'd be recording twice. Most people pick one recorder; Caddie's notes link straight to the tasks they created.
