From Anup on Couple Joy

What was said about Couple Joy

  • Couple Joy used a lock screen widget to stand out from notifications. Couple Joy was among the first apps to put a widget on the lock screen and built social content around it. Flame later copied the approach, adding a distance widget and a days-together counter that reminds users the app exists whenever they open the phone.

Widgets are a mobile advantage over web apps. The lesson drawn is to put a large, dynamic widget on the home screen and update its content dynamically. As Anup puts it: "Almost every other app sends you notification nowadays. So, how do you stand out from that?"
