A need felt once a quarter could not sustain Local Mine as a business. Local Mine sat on top of Foursquare and Gowalla so people could ask whoever was checked in at a place about it, for example whether the line was long. It sold to Airbnb, but people needed it only about once a quarter, so it could not become a business.
