Ari Emanuel cold-called Rapino after reading about him in the Wall Street Journal. Ari got Michael Rapino on the phone when Live Nation was worth about $200 million. The company grew into one worth tens of billions, and Rapino later put Ari on the board.

Ari's method is to read about a person, call, and keep calling until they call back, using humor so he doesn't seem like a stalker. He names Rapino and Elon Musk as contacts that began as cold calls after he read about them. In his words: "the way you get into the puzzle for me is on the phone."
