What was said about Lenny's Product Pass

  • A too-generous free bundle drew fraud rings before defenses existed. Lenny's Product Pass launched giving paid subscribers a free year of Cursor, Lovable, Bolt, Replit and v0, which Lenny calls "way too good an offer." Fraud rings, mostly in China, found exploits in the API and spread them through student networks.

He had to work with Stripe and Substack to shut the abuse down, and his engineer barely slept for a week patching holes. He calls it the most stressful business moment he has had and feared it could undermine trust in the whole subscription. "People came for it, bad people."
