An enterprise AI search and assistant that answers questions across a company's work apps.
Glean began as enterprise search in 2019 (BERT, vector embeddings) and added chat after GPT-3. Its CPO Tamar Yehoshua uses it 10 to 15 times a day, and investors call it an AI company actually making money. Snap's CEO and Confluent's CPO also rely on it. Lesson: ground an assistant in company data, tune prompts until trusted, and guard against questions it cannot answer.
From Evan Spiegel on Glean
Evan Spiegel built a Glean agent to flag what leaders might miss. Spiegel's personal agent runs on Glean, which he calls the most secure way to reach Snap's documents and dashboards. It combs dashboards, documents and the weekly notes from his leaders (three things from the week, three things ahead), then tells him what to focus on.
It occasionally catches something he had not noticed. He says it supports the leadership structure he has always wanted: "It's enabling the type of leadership structure that I've always wanted, which is very flat, very fast-moving."

Shaun finds it ten times better than what came before. It searches all organizational knowledge, links documents and names the company expert on a term. Confluent has used it for a long time.
